...and wont stop and i want to know why? it's a 305 tbi set up. the first thing i noticed was the idle air control was sucking a ton of air and that the injectors seem to be compensating this with a lot of fuel. i bought a new idle air control and throttle positioning sensor and gave the computer a hard reset but it hasnt made a difference. even though this was when the weather was warm could it have anything to do with a cold start sensor? anybody have any other ideas? i've replaced a lot of sensors and such trying to fix this.

I would say if everything is in good shape then you probably need a new temp sensor and/or a new O2 sensor. The injectors could be failing to close fully thus dumping raw fuel into the engine.

First check all your vacuum hoses.. that will run your idle up too. take some carb cleaner and spray it around all your hoses...

fix what has been broken from rotten out... also run and intake Cleaner into the TPI at the butterfly With the engine off then start it up.

this should clean things up ...

If you have acces to a scanner, try reading the data from the coolant temp sensor at cold start. I have seen some read WAY to cold, which would cause the rich condition you state.
