Ok guys, my first thread. I've got this magnificent 74 nova with all original mechanics. the recently rebuilt rochester dual jet stalls out pretty bad when you romp on it. I suspect a vacuum leak, I just haven't hunted it down yet. My question is, if I replace the intake manifold gasket, what thickness is best? Thicker or thinner?

Thanks guys.

have you sprayed around the intake to cylinder head area with carb cleaner to see if there is a leak? Thicker would be better.
have you looked down the throat of the carburetor with the engine off to verify that the accelerator pump is working?
have you checked for broken, cracked, disconnected vacuum lines?

Thanks for the reply! I haven't done that yet, but I will this weekend. I do want to identify the vacuum leak before I rip off the intake, so thanks for the tips. I'll post back when I find out.

Thanks for the advice! I was able to track the issue down to a simple loose vacuum hose. The intake manifold checked out fine with carb cleaner.
