Hey guys I have a 2002 Chevy Suburban and I wanted to take off the engine fan so I can get rid of some noise. If I take it off will it affect the truck at all?

yes, it will overheat, what did you think its function is?

It's electric. but it still has a fan.
Is this a joke or are you serious??

Yes take it off, you will get more HP!!!

it doesnt matter what a new suburban has, your vehicle will overheat without a fan.

The 2007 and newer Sub's and Tahoe's do not have a fan attached to the water pump. However, they have two electric fans controlled by a thermo switch or the A/C. If you remove the fan from your rig, it'll overheat pronto. If you want to remove the fan and go with an electric fan, Hayden makes an aftermarket electric fan that works pretty good. You may need two of their heavy-duty truck fans to do the work of the one fan you have now. Good luck.

Yeah that /\
I have considered an electric fan to try an help my mileage some. it would take some driving to recoup the cost

Leave it the way it is. The engineers designed it that way for a reason. That reason is for optimal performance.
