im considering buying an all new 350 engine from gm preformance, should i get a diffrent transmission, im probably gonna rebuild the transmission anyway. also the engine im considering has a 3 yr 100k mile warrenty and only cost about 2k, are there any better deals out there? are there any other sellers who i may want to check out for engines, new or rebuilt, that anyone can advise me to look at? thanks for any help

i don't think if u face any problem with the gearbox in changing 305 with a 350,but it's better if u replace the original gearbox for the 350 for better performance of the whole transmission.because some times the gearbox doesn't respond as quiclly as it did with the original engine.

You should be fine keeping it. Depending on how you plan to use the car if you do a stock rebuild, performance rebuild, or maybe change to another model. If you are daily driving the car including some highway miles it may be worth looking at at a 700r4 (4L60). The 700 has higher low gears so it will give you more bite off the line but has the OD so it wont suck so much gas on the highway. Length is similar but you would likely end up having to mess with drive shafts so you would have to be driving a lot of miles to make it worth the swap.
