Will the factory radio on an 02' Chevrolet Cavalier be compatable with an '01

Chevrolet Silverado 1500? I am getting a new CD deck installed in my car and wondered if the radio in my Cavalier could be installed into my Dad's Silverado, since they are around the same year and made by Chevy. His doesn't have a CD player, and he just discovered that those are things, so...

They are definitely not interchangeable, or even the same size. The Cavalier radio works with commands from the vehicle's data bus system; it won't work without it. In fact, it won't even work in another Cavalier of the same year unless you have it reset by a dealer, because it recognizes the original vehicle VIN through the data bus system.

The Silverado didn't start using a similar radio system until the 2003 model year. There's no way you'd be able to make the Cavalier radio work in a 2001 truck.

nope def wont work...cavaliers 2000 and up are their new style radio...the silverados didnt change till 2003...harness is completely different and doesnt have a switch power
