will a 94 chevy blazer 4.3 vortec wheel drive alternator fit a 96 chevy blazer

Alternator is going out in my 96 Chevy Blazer four-wheel drive I have an alternator from a '94 Chevy Blazer it's a 4.3 vortec alternator will it be compatible to switch into my '96 Chevy Blazer

If you mean amperage rating both alternators should have a stamp or tag with a AC-Delco number that you can lookup.

Okay and as long as both of those are the same it will work and not mess it up?

You have to physically compare them and confirm the amperage output.
You may want to test the 26 year old alternator at a auto parts store and disconnect the battery before doing anything.
