Why is the 2006 Suburban's gas milage lower than 2005 and 2007?

Looking at the specs and at fueleconomy.gov, the 2006 model year's mileage is less than both that of 2005 and 2007. I'm wondering if I should avoid looking to purchase a 2006 because of this? Does the engine have some flaws that were introduced in 2006 and fixed in 2007? I know this is some pretty specific info, but I figured if anyone knows, that person will probably see this :)

TIA,

Russell

Well I kind of browsed that site and don't see much of a difference. I also didn't see anything mentioned about gear ratio's, tire size, HP ratings etc. If you are going to buy a Suburban gas mileage probably isn't a top priority. I don't think I would pass up a good deal on a nice 2006 just because of the mileage numbers.

I absolutely agree, my main concern is not the actual mileage but rather whether or not the engine or other components had some engineering defect in that year that might cause premature failure. I don't want to buy a vehicle that I know to be problematic!

The only info on differences between 2005 and 2006 that I could find is this, from wikipedia:
The catalytic converters were relocated closer to the engine, allowing for faster "light off" and reduced emissions.

I suppose comparing to the 2007 is not apples to apples since the body style changed.
