why does my 2000 chevy z71 silverado have two mufflers?

we bought the truck and took it to the exhaust shop to get it looked at and the guy said that it had two flowmasters mufflers, and he had no clue why the person that pre owned the truck did that. any answers to know why he did it?

Well if it has two pipes out the back of the truck it is called dual exhaust and he did two mufflers to make it not so loud or as loud as straight pipes.

Its called True dual flowmaster exhaust. Like my truck is a 2004 silverado but i only got one dual flowmaster 40 series on it on one pipe going in two pipes going out. You got two pipes coming off the cataylitic converter seperatly into two different mufflers.
