Haha my cousins have both of these cars. The Lancer is a really nice car, my cousin john has the GTS trim w/ CVT tranny, an rrm short ram intake and injen axle back exhaust. Both are extremely easy bolt on parts, the intake makes a mass amount of audio difference (except when idle). I have driven it a few times and it handles amazing. Would be much faster with the 5 speed. He has the 650 watt rockford fosgate sound system with the gps sirius, sunroof moonroof package. The sound system is amazing so much bass, jaw dropping treble, its a very nice ride. The cobalt my cousin sarah has is 2007 LT coupe with auto tranny. It has xm satelite radio and a sunroof. It rides much smoother than the lancer(cobalt has 15 inch rims, lancer has 18's) and its a nice and comfortable car. Yes the lancer is a little bit more expensive, i personally recomend the lancer because they hold their value better than chevy. The 2.0 lancer kicks out about 150 hp but for the 2009 lancer available in a 2.4 is obviously larger than the current 2.2 engine in the cobalt. The interior in both cars are nice, the lancer seats are more comfy. PROS: LANCER really easy to mod, drives great and is really solid better available sound system. PROS Cobalt slightly better fuel economy, xm is better than sirius, its a coupe! CONS LANCER there are three transmissions in lancers reg. auto, cvt auto w/ tiptronic, and 5 speed. slow off the line for the auto trans. ( 5 speed quite a bit quiker than both) Driver seat is more molded to the driver. Whereas the passenger seat is still supportive but not as much as the driver. Sometimes doesnt start on first crank. CONS cobalt. Back seat is a little cramped for full sized people. Not as sporty as lancer. Auto tranny is, well its just there. Buy a stick better economy. So inclusion i do believe that you would be better of with the lancer, but if you really want a coupe, the cobalt is the way to go. Hope this helps!!! G'luck!!!!!!
