Which car is better for long trips, a Ford Fusion or Chevy Malibu?

I need a little car for long trips when i am not using the dually to pull trailers. Ive been looking at the Fusion and the new-body style Malibu.
I only buy American cars to support my country, so dont talk about Toyota's, nissan, hyundai, etc.....
