Whats the best engine ever put in the Corvette by the factory?
the ZR1 LT5 never had a supercharger but was a cammer, DOHC.. definitely on the list.

The best corvette motor every put in a factory vette, is a matter of opinion, some people prefer old school for example, The 327 fuelie, was a great motor, however, as the years went on there were several more, that provided much more power, for example the 435 HP 427 big block, and in the 70's the 454, but I would have to say the best motor ever put into a vette to date, in my opinion would have the the LS7 427 all aluminum SB

1989- 1995 Corvette ZR1 had a LT5 Supercharged V8. in 1990 it had 375 bhp. and at the end of the run of 1995 it had 405 hp.

2009 ZR1 has a LS9 engine pushing 650 hp

By the factory I would also have to say the L-88 427. Granted the newer engines are better I still think that was quite an advancement at the time. I know it was rated at 435 HP but was underrated by a long shot. See source for more info.

THis is a matter of opinion. A lot of people would say the new LS9 motor featured in the new Corvette ZR1 is the best ever. This is a 6.2L supercharged small-block V8 motor. It produces a whopping 638 Horsepower and 605 lb-ft of torque. It has an Eaton supercharger that can boost up to 10.5 PSI.
Bottom line, this engine is a beast!!

(note)--- The 1990-1995 Corvette ZR1 LT5 did not have a supercharged motor as stated in a previous answer.

i swear by the LS1. had it in my trans am, it kicks ass, and easy to mod to an ls7 or ls9
