what would be a good amplifier and subwoofer to put in a 2009 Chevy Cobalt?

Specifics would be nice... I'm trying to buy my girlfriend a new system for a reasonable amount of money but I still want it to sound good. I'm looking to spend about $275 combined for the sub and amp.
