1991 chevy Silverado 1500 stepside Classic. I need to know in Pounds what its maximum towing capacity is.

check with the manufacturer, but it is more than likely 4000 to 5000 lbs max, and that's with a square tube Receiver hitch. and with a 5.7 or bigger engine. keep in mind, what the manufacturer says the truck will do BRAND NEW, is one thing, 19 years later, is another. towing is extremely hard on the transmission. If you have the stock transmission that came in the truck originally, a long tow will probably finnish it. Also, I put monroe load adjuster shock/coil spring combo on my trucks for safety, monroe has been around for 30 or more years, I have been using their heavy duty rear shock with a coil spring wrapped around it on all my tow rigs for years, it is a bigger shock, and the coil spring around the outside, improves load carrying abilities, and gives much better stability than a stock set up. I put a heavy duty monroe sensa track on the front, this will actually smooth out the jerking and bouncing and make it a breeze to tow long distances. Keep in mind, if that is a standard cab, and the shortbed stepside (6 foot bed?) it has a shorter wheelbase, which can give some extra bounce and wiggle when towing heavy loads. always check with the manufacturer or go talk to uhaul, they install square tube Receiver hitches, and they have good extra strong stuff. best of luck
