I have an 88 chevy silverado with a 5.7/350 V8 in it. I was curious of the stock horsepower from the factory. And also, it has right at 220,00 miles on it, so obviously the power isn't so great anymore. How much do you think it's probably lost with the milage it has on it? Thank you!

well the factory rating on your tbi 350 was 210 hp. however that is a factory rating and very seldem compleatly true. the true # is somewhere right about 275hp. now yes with that mileage you may have lost a couple of hp but not always. you've probobly lost more due to a partly pluged catalitic converter, if yours still has one that is. now leagally i can tell you to CUT it off or PUNCH it out but replacing it will help your truck breath much better if you can understand my meaning. with that fixed you should be pretty much back up to any hp. you've lost or a bit more depending on how you fix it. that is unless your engine is really tired witch is possible but unlikely untill you get to about 350,000 miles or so. my last 350 retired with 475.000 on it and it still made every bit of it's original 350hp. the truck fell apart long before that 350 would give up. the old saying 350's don't die they just get old IS true.
