I have a 2007 cobalt LT sedan with a 2.2l ecotec. I would prefer not to trade it in. So, I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheap reliable turbo. I plan to get a new intake and exhaust as well.

Turbo and cheap do not go together.
Be careful adding a turbo to a 2.2 Eco tec. It is a powder cast crank and can not handle the boost in horsepower. The 2.0 Eco tec is a much better engine to build. They come supercharged stock in the Cobalt SS. I did a lot of research on these engines before I bought my 2.0 supercharged engine, and it is the best bang for your buck.

Don't know off the top of my head but some quick googling

First I would check to see what OTHER parts need to be changed.

In SOME cases, turbo (or supercharged) engines require different heads as well as different exhaust and intake manifolds; also different timing which can be expensive if you need more than a "chip" upgrade or change.on the newer computer controlled systems; also possible fuel system changes, etc.

THEN you can figure on about $1000 MINIMUM for the complete turbocharger unit.
