Looking at buying this 1992 Chevy Suburban, 2500 (454), Automatic, with 205,000 miles, for about $1200. I took it for a test drive and the thing turns awesome with no problems, seems to run and shift(auto) smoothly. And I went uphill for about 5 miles, and went 65mph, and gained speed the more I pressed the pedal. (so seems strong)

just about anything with a 454 in it (except a M1 battle tank) is gonna be pretty fast !

Don't wanna be the one that's gotta pay to get it filled up with gas.

Expect about 8 or 9 MPG !!

Two pieces of advice.

The 454 will drink gas like nothing you've experienced before. Probably in the 10-12 mpg range.

With any used vehicle you must have a certified mechanic that you trust perform a complete mechanical inspection before you close the deal. It's money well spent and can reveal issues both positive and negative that may affect your decision to purchase.

$1200 is a great price for a solid, good running workhorse of a truck like the older Suburban. Down the road when it does require repairs (of course it will based on the age and mileage) the costs should be reasonable for this vehicle.

Nice price and I have always found big Suburbans to be very comfortable to drive, but do you really need to own a vehicle that will get you around 12 MPG on a good day? Gas prices are going up again, and I expect to see $3.50 per gallon by this summer.

type into search box

how to check a used four wheel drive
how to check a used car

will get you a checklist to help look for signs of problems
you might have miss

type any cars year model problems wil bring up recalls and other problem they have
like

1992 Chevy suburban problems

and that wil give you a better ideal of what or where to also look

Sounds really sweet, you will be able to pass everything but a gas
station. Be sure to keep an eye on the oil, over the years I have
discovered that 454's have a thirst for oil even though they are
purring like a kitty.
