the shifting lever moves freely on my 97 chevy silverado but it is not shifting

gears it is no engaging? the transmision any idea of what is broken? Thank you

more than likely the shift cable broke or the knob it attaches to under the column cover or popped off the linkage at the transmission.hope this helps.

Go under truck on drivers side mid-door area,the shift able goes into the side of Tranny .it attaches to the neutral switch.have helper slowly move the shifter,they sometimes pop out from wear.check this & let us know.
