Tailgate malfunction

2017 Silverado 1500 LT easy tailgate not working like it should. when opening tailgate it drops fast not easy. anyone have a fix. Thanks

Do you have any add on equipment on the tailgate, liner, etc.?
There is a damper attached to the tailgate which can be accessed by removing the right side tail lamp.
 
yes there is a liner on tailgate. Thanks for the info.
 
Start with removing the liner.
 
there is know resistance at all. and the bushing appears to be shot.
