My wife has an 06 Suburban Z71 with the 5.3l and just passed 98850miles. I change the oil every 3000miles or when the computer tells me the oil life is around 20% remaining. It's her DD, and haven't had any issues out of it since buying it in Oct of last year and putting over 17k miles on it. However tonight on the way home from Alabama, we notice a knocking noise at lower speeds and rpms. The noise starts to make its presence at about 1000rpm and starts to fade away at about 1600rpm. It seems to be more on the passenger side of the motor and seems to be more down on the bottom end. It does not have a CEL or codes present, it's not smoking, oil level is fine(was about a half quart low). It never got any better when I added a half a quart and there is no oil in the coolnt or vice versus. The temps are normal and oil pressure is above 40 and increases as rpm increases also there is no lose in power or fuel mileage. I am nervous because this is her DD and she uses it to get the kids to and from school. I was trying to find some information on engine knocks for the 5.3 and found alot on piston slap. I don't think this is my issue. I am leaning more towards a lifter/rocker arm problem but wanted to pick your minds on this before I start throwing money at it or doing more harm. I can get a video if need be tomorrow if that helps. Thanks in Advance
