I have a 2008 black chevy cobalt LT (automatic) and I've noticed this sound every time I let up on the brake pedal. The sound is coming from the left rear side of my car but I can't tell exactly from where. If I let up on the brake pedal slowly then there is no squeaking sound. Any idea what it can be?

It's your brakes man, did you just get a brake job? Rotors? Rotors can be squeaky when they're new for awhile because of the grease on their surface. Pads can squeak for awhile too. If it doesn't go away after awhile, or if you haven't had a brake job in the last 15,000 to 30,000 miles, you might need one.

just guesing here but maybe your brake capliers are mad or maybe need to be greased
