Philadelphia couple leave the hustle and bustle to live life in the wild
Picture this: Traveling through Arizona’s Badlands, with no one to be found for miles, and the two-track path you found on Google Maps is crumbling beneath your 2015 Silverado 2500. In these conditions, you rely on your own ingenuity, and if you get it wrong, a rescue could be hours away.
Mark Christy and Nives Riddles have chosen to live this way, day in, day out, leaving behind their jobs in Philadelphia to strike out on the open trail through Arizona’s deserts and into the Sierra Nevadas, documenting each step along the way on their personal blog Camp by Camp.
Who hasn’t had a similar thought of getting away? Maybe it was a Tuesday afternoon around 3:30 p.m., when the day’s caffeine has run its course and you’re staring at a meeting-filled calendar. “What,” you ask yourself, “if I gave it all up and… just left?”
Christy and Riddles did it. They detached themselves from the workaday world to live out the millennial generation’s dream. No structure and reporting to no one.
