of a show car? Here is the prelude:

Here is my car:

The guy says he needs a new door lock on the driver side which can be bought off of eBay for cheap, and an oxygen sensor for the downpipe which is like 40 at autozone. The KBB of the prelude is like near 1000 more than my car plus he has a full body kit, full exhaust, etc done to his. The check engine light is on due to the o2 sensor missing. Do you think this is a fair trade?
I read on a website that the automatic transmission slips and needs to be rebuilt at that age. I mean it is 2009 and the car is a 1993. My friend has a 92 prelude with like 300000 miles on it and it runs so strong, but its a 5speed. I am just worried that down the line a little I will have to spend like 4 grand just to get a new transmission in the car.
Thanks for all the answers. I had a gut feeling i shouldn't do it, and i should trust my gut more often because more than 99 percent of the time it is right. Thanks for your answers.

Not a chance. The seller of this car is pulling a fast one.

First off, do the research a used Prelude that is 16 years old is not worth anywhere close to $3500. More like $1600.

This car has mutiple mechanical problems. Bad O2 sensor, bad tranny, needs to be painted. This is a money pit and the seller is tired of spending all his money and the car still doesn't run worth a damn. Plus it looks like crap sitting there in primer. He's hoping to dump this project on some idiot who thinks bolted on plastic, coffee can exhuast and HID headlights are cool.

Your Chevy is a much better car than this piece of crap Prelude.

Looks ricey but...You can never go wrong with honda... :)

Not a chance in hell would I ever do that kind of a trade. If the check engine light is on, it's probably because of some of the mods he did to it. (I checked out a honda accord wagon that had been modded. The manifold had been changed, causeing the same problem, and it would NOT pass smog that way. Therefor, it could not be registered.)

Keep your Cavalier, it is a way better car than any honda from 1993. As long as the Cavalier is clean mechanically, you would be way ahead in keeping it. Besides, you know what is wrong with your car. You don't know exactly what is wrong with the "new" used car.
