I have a 2002 Suburban LS that I bought new. I have taken very good care of it and it has served my family very well for these 15+ years. In 2014, I bought a pop up tent trailer, and the suburban towed it just fine. In 2016 I sold the tent trailer and bought a 24 ft travel trailer. While the TT is under 6500 lbs fully loaded and within the suburban's 9000 lb weight rating, I did opt to make some upgrades to make it safer and easier to tow the trailer. These have all been done since August of last year, and include:

1) Added a new larger capacity radiator and replaced the engine cooling fan clutch

2) Added an airlift suspension augmentation airbag system to the rear springs

3) Installed a backup Camera

4)Engine overhaul included replacing knock sensors and manifold gasket

5) Replaced front sway bar bushings and repaired the ABS module circuit board

6)Replaced the transmission at 165K miles with new, not rebuilt unit

7) Replaced all brakes- both rotors and pads

8) Put on four new Michelin LT Defender tires, LT265 70R16

All total, I've invested $9,800 into the Suburban with all the above plus normal maintenance.

Now, I've reached the point where the wife and I plan to do a lot more traveling, and I decided to replace the Suburban with a new Silverado 2500 HD. So, the suburban will go up for sale in August. My question is, how much of my investment can I realistically expect to recover when selling? Blue Book in my area is $4000 +/- $500, but I'd like to recover at least half of the investment if possible.

I'd appreciate any feedback or experience any of you would care to share.

Thanks!

you can only expect to get the upper price of the biue book range you are not going to recover your repair costs.
