rebuild or reman engine

Stupid A--
1995 K2500 Suburban [454 N]
I put new rad in plus new oil cooler lines. Lines are click/push in engine side. Oops didnt push hard enough. 500 yds from home popped off [first I knew no oil pressure] I limped home which by the time got in the driveway had the dreaded knocking. After seeing the 2ft wide swath of oil down the road knew it was bad.
So, question is, do I attempt to rebuild or just purchase a crate/reman engine.
If the latter, any suggestions on source.

you have to price out the cost of a local rebuild versus a crate engine. Look at the crate engine prices from www.summitracing.com

I had a great experience with a 454 rebuild...never tried a crate engine

weigh your options with the funds you have. What is the mileage? It is very much possible to rebuild it. Will you be doing the task?
