After a little research I believe its either a bad bearing or a U joint.
I hear a constant "humming" noise that just started about last week.
Sounds like I would need to take off the entire drive shaft to fully diagnose the problem but does anyone have any price quotes if I took this to a dealer? Im leaving on a road trip in 3 days and need to get this taken care of. Thanks for your help.
Just put the truck in neutral and gave the drive shaft a good shake. Felt pretty solid to me. Really no movement in any direction.
I dont think the noise is coming out of the wheel so a wheel bearing sounds a bit off, but I really appreciate the responses so far!
Double edit. I also just had new shoes/pads put on adn I feel like the mechanic did a good inspection of the area. so I dont think there is any other problems with the wheel (maybe im wrong I must admit im pretty ignorant when it comes to cars)
