Never tried a cold air intake. Being that its from amazon I would be skeptical....but thats just me.

Don't waste your money. CAI's are all hype and do absolutely nothing for performance or mileage. All they do is increase the noise of the engine as you accelerate. Most everyone I've ever known that has purchased one had actually lost mileage for a while because of loving the sound of it when they step on the gas. Over time, most have gone back to the stock intake air box and filter. And don't piss your money away on a K&N. More hype and not worth the cash.

I'm not saying this package works, but I disagree that cold air has no effect on performance. Cold air is denser, more air is power. Hence we have turbo and super chargers. The better systems having intercoolers. On cold mornings I have seat of the pants power increases in my TurboCoupe.

Bottom line is that it's your money and vehicle. Only you can decide if it's worth the investment or not. Personally, I don't think it is.

A really well designed system doesnt end under the hood. Typically duct work is added to a scoop located somewhere in the front of the car where you get the cooler air and if you are really moving some ram effect. The other location for this is the base of the windshied as found in the L-88 Corvette hood design and the SS Chevelles of the 60/70's.

I've been lusting after the SS cowl induction type hoods for the C/K1500s. Maybe Santa will bring me one next year.

I have the spectre intake on mine from Advanced auto. I have had it on for 3 years. When I first put it on I was getting running lean codes because it was letting in so much more cooler air into the system and it couldn't keep up. I also have added a muffler swap to a flowmaster 70 series and also have a diablo tuner for it to help change the settings and tunes. I recommend also doing these 3 things together. Total the intake was like 140 or something and to have the muffler put in was like 170 and the tuner is a little over 300. i have much better power and my fuel economy is great for a truck this size. the last big trip I took which was a little over 500 miles of highway mostly and some city driving I got 19.9 total avg. for a 7k lb car with 4wd I am going to say that is pretty darn good! But like someone else said it is your car and your money but just know that when you put it on you might have to get the tuner as well to help it adjust with everything else. Sorry if this is wordy but thought I would chime in. Let me know if you have any questions about anything. I should state that mine was for an 04 with the 5.3. So I know it is a little different animal and the hood would help a bunch too. on my old 91 Sierra with the 350 I had an open air kit with a cowl and could tell that it was getting much better airflow through it. My .02.
