I have a 2023 Chevy Silverado. I purchased it earlier this year. Have lots of things wrong with it already but one of the biggest irritants about it is the automatic parking brake. Anytime I park in my driveway which has a very faint incline, The parking brake automatically sets. It will not automatically disengage after I start the truck and put it in reverse so I have to press the button to disengage the break. Half of the time the parking brake will not disengage when I push the button and before anyone asks yes I step on the break very hard just like when I start or shift the vehicle out of park. The only way to get it to move is to with the vehicle gear step on the gas which burns the tires in my driveway. I do not want an automatic parking brake and only want the brake to set when I wish it to be set like every other vehicle that I have owned. Does anyone on here know how to disable the automatic parking brake? Please help, my driveway is looking worse by the day. Thank you.

The problem should be covered by the warranty. Why haven't you taken it in for service?

Because unlike most, I cannot take time off as easily as others. I am a contractor and work from my truck six days a week. I was hoping this would be a quick easy fix that I could take care of myself rather than having the truck out of commission a whole day at the dealership. But Thank you for pointing out that my three month old truck is still under warranty.

It's not like this is a common problem and everything is controlled by computer modules.

The problem you are experiencing is because of the Hill Start Assist function that applies the parking brake. Read page 237 of your manual. Have you tried backing into the driveway?

I have not tried backing into the driveway but I will. This is interesting because I own a 2019 Silverado and a 2019 Chevy Tahoe. Both of them have Hill assist and neither one of them have this automatic parking brake issue

But this parking brake issue is just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many things wrong or breaking on this truck. The drivetrain and braking systems are awesome. But everything that is breaking has to do with the electrical and digital garbage on this truck. yes I know the truck is under warranty but I can’t keep bringing it in there for a day every time something breaks on it. Right now with the full list of stuff I have it will probably be at the dealership for a week. Not exactly what I was thinking when I purchased a brand new vehicle. It worries me since after only three months I have a whole page of items that are broken or not working anymore that need to be fixed, what’s going to happen after three years and the warranty has expired, how much is all of this stuff going to cost me to constantly be fixing?
