one ugly bumper

I've chrome polished my '93 front bumper to remove the surface rust and it keeps coming back. Must be cheap, thin chrome. Has anyone had success painting their bumpers to match the body color? Any advice to share?

I've seen it done on other vehicles and I'm sure someone must have posted a how to on the internet. Guess is you have to rough up the current surface, 80 grit paper, then etching primer, than prime and color coat.

Thanks, I'll Google it too. Sounds pretty basic. I'll probably buy a new rubber bumper strip too, mine looks pretty bad.
