Trying to remove the quick connect hi side ac fitting on a 2001 Malibu to replace a bad schrader valve and it wont budge. Is it LH thread?

Would be very surprised if it is, you cannt see any thread extending past the fitting to verify? Can you apply any kind of penetrating liquid to loosen it up? How about slight amount of heat from a small torch?

Thanks for the help. No the fitting has been tightened so tight the o-ring has come out fully and the fitting is hitting the top of the receiving threaded top surface. I feel it has been leaking (why she had no air) and someone tried to muscle it tight to stop the leak.

I am trying to help my neighbor. I have been learning ac systems and just got my EPA license. I have been wrenching for too many years.

I told her I would throw the gauges on and see where she was at. I noticed real quick that the hi pressure service port had no cap and was filled with dirt and sand. I told her that could be trouble. She wanted cold air so I cleaned it as best I could without pushing the dirt into the valve. I thought I was ok and threw the gauges on it. She was real low all but empty on gas and I told her to get a cap before we charge the system as I new she would not if left to do later. I removed my gauges (have the low loss fittings) and when I did the hi port valve was hissing. I tried to get it to seal but it would not. I now told her we needed to replace the valve. I tried to remove the quick connect fitting so I could get at the valve core to remove it and it will not budge.

I looked at a replacement on Advance Auto and they say the threads are metric straight. No mention of LH so I assume they are RH. I tried my best but it will not budge. I was holding the lower nut with a wrench while using a socket on the fitting. It started bending the tube it is so tight. I read a post on a forum and someone said 134a fittings are reverse or LH threads? I did not trust that and want to be sure before I twist this thing off. If not any suggestions how to get that off?

It looks like the replacement quick connects for a R12 conversion. I know its factory 134a but the fittings looks like I described. It is an o-ring fitting but it has been tightened so tight (before I got it) the o-ring has squashed out fully. I fear the aluminum has galled. I am new to ac but I thought heating any part of the system or the fittings is not good. Not a choice I would use. Being aluminum the male threads would expand with the fitting anyway and would not help me.

I have read that there is a fitting that has a sealer that is a permanent seal when applied and will not release, like an epoxy. I wonder if someone has put one on trying to seal this thing.

She does not have the cash to replace the hose and accumulator.

Just trying to help her

Any thoughts?

Put a cap on the hissing high side, assuming you saw it was low on gas add a can of gas, and walk away from the job. Sounds like the correct way to fix it is to replace the line that the valve is part of but you say that is not an option.
