converter out of a1981 Corvette? I have a TH350c transmission. The computer has been bypassed and it is using just a carburetor and plain 350 distributor now. The lock-up torque converter was not wired up in the car when I got it. I am wanting to wire it up. The problem is is the computer is originally what determined when the torque converter solenoid engaged by completing the ground at a computer determined time but I don't know if the computer still works so I was going to wire it directly to the brake switch and a ground.

When I do that will the lock-up torque converter engage about the same time as the car changes into third gear? If so will it damage the transmission when the car shifts from second to third and the torque converter locks in at the same time as the shift when under a hard acceleration?

Earlier 1979 and some 80 models used a vacuum switch to help with the shift. 81 used the computer and no vacuum switches. 82 had the 700r4 transmissions.
I can tell none of you have a clue as to how it works. There is a switch on the brake that disengages the clutch when the brake pedal is applied. If you don't know then don't answer.
