Need help with 98 Chevrolet Silverado Z71?

I don't know how to get it to show you the temperature.. it is in the rear view mirror it tells you the directions but not the temp ...... If you push an hold the button it just come up with numbers like 1-15 then goes right back to N-S-E-W
