All the chip in they key was is a resistor. All the systems I have bypassed I just measured the resistance in the key, found resistors to equal that value, and soldered them directly into the harness under the dash. Never had a problem again. Not sure why there would have to be a switch. I have seen people leave the old lock cylinder with a key in it under the dash with the wires still hooked up. I find it easier and more reliable to spend the $1 to buy the resistors. Maybe the button is someones idea of security? Is the button in an obvious place? Even if it was someone stealing your car may not think to push it before they try to start it. If you can easily get to the wires on the back of that button just connect them together and see what happens.
