my 1998 chevy silverado won't start?

as of yesterday morning it was running,but it has been dieing on me alot lately. i changed the fuel filter and now it won't run. the only way it will start is with tarter fluid and it won't stay running.i had the fuel pump replaced about a year ago.i aslo replaced the relay yesterday.i'm at a loss,can someone help

It could be your fuel pressure regulator.

Pull your high tension coil wire off and check for "white death". It's the thick wire that goes directly into the middle of the distributor cap to the ignition coil. Very easy DIY check.
