It did seem to crank a little long before turning over when it was cold. Once it was warm, it seemed to start fine. This morning was very cold and it cranked but would not catch. I ended up running the battery down trying to get it started. It didn't take long so I think the battery may be weak. I can hear the fuel pump when I turn on the ignition for the first few seconds. Could a week battery possibly be my problem or is it fuel related. someone please advise. I've heard chevys have fuel pump issues.

This model truck needs minimum 55 to 60 psi fuel pressure to start it. The reason is inside the intake manifold there is a poppet valve that the pressure has to overcome. If it doesn't reach that pressure it won't start. Any competent mechanic knows this is common.
Now don't run out and put a fuel pump on it because I said it is common. There are other causes to no starts too. Have your pressure tested. If you have a mechanic you can trust leave it with him overnight so they can confirm the problem. These pumps can be expensive. I have had the best success with Ac-Delco products for reliable repair on these models.
