is there a difference between a chevy silverado 350 and a v8 vortec?? what is it?

Vortec V6 was an excellent engine. I think it came out in the late 80's. Bodes well for other products in that line, but I can't speak to the V8

The Vortec design came out in 96 and was available in a 5.7/350 from 96-99.
