Is the Chevrolet HHR LT a good first car?

So I plan on buying my first car next month. I wanted the PT Cruiser but the dealership that I plan on buying my car from want $300 monthly payments. They have a 2006 Chevrolet HHR LT for $200 monthly payment. I want the cheaper car but I'm worried that it may be a little to big for me. It looks like an SUV. Also, I heard that there are more blind spots. The design is nice though and the cost is reasonable for me. Should I get it or something smaller?

pay as much as you can at time of purchase, you really dont want to get your car repoed if you cant afford payments. and you will save lots of money by avoiding much interest. the hhr is small, it's not big at all and about the same size as a pt cruiser, i actually thought it was smaller.
