Is the 2005-2007 chevy malibu a good car?

No, for the simple fact that it is a Chevy.
Get a Honda or Toyota instead, it will treat you much better and give you many more miles of trouble-free driving.
Unless you are one of those people that hates imports, in which case I don't know what to tell ya.
 
For basic transportation there great. Certainly better than any Honda,Toyota,etc Definitely a lot cheaper on maintenance issues
 
There was a recall for most of them. I had a few customers that had some issues but overall they are very happy with them. The gas mileage is excellent with most customers saying they get 35 mpg with the 6 cylinder. If you get it with low miles, the car has a clean carfax and a mechanic you trust checks it out. I would say buy one. To those of you who say Toyota's are perfect I had a rear end go out in my Tacoma at 30000 miles.
