Im am 19 years old and Im about to purchase my first car, I found a chevy malibu with 166,000 miles on it the gas gauge needs to be fixed and it needs new tires the owner is only asking 1,000 for it. It sounds great and everything else looks okay. I wanted some feedback to know if this is a good car. Ive done some research and found many complaints.

yea there were recalls on a lot of chevys bout the gas gauge they recalled my moms 05 tahoe. but malibus theyre ok GM's quality in parts wasnt the best but it should be a good car most likely it wont be a lot to repair since its not a luxury, import car. but you would probably be better going with the new malibus because its quality is outstanding it even beats toyota and honda. but if you take care of it and get it inspected when it needs to and tune ups and stuff you should have zero to little problems

hoped that helped

NO! They got alot of issues. The intake gaskets go bad & it'll cause your engine to blow. They're not worth it.

It honestly depends on the year and how well the previous owner took care of it. I've got a 2002 malibu and she's been relatively good to me. I've had some expensive repairs but thankfully it was mostly covered by the warranty. I wouldn't buy anything with 166,000 miles on it. i've looked up the consumer report on my car and it got a pretty bad rating.
