Is $1000 a good selling price for a 2000 Chevy Malibu LS with 178,000 miles on it?

According to the Kelley Blue Book, private seller value is $2050. However, we have some friends who want to buy this car and we're willing to sell for $1000. The only "non-maintenance" problem was the water pump went out at 155,000 miles ("gradually worn out", according to the mechanic) and I had it replaced. Other than that, no mechanical problems whatsoever. Does $1000 sound too expensive for a car that old with that many miles on it, or does it sound reasonable? (When we told our friends last night we were selling for $1000, they were pleased; you would have thought we would have offered them all the gold in California).
