intermittent unable to start, not turning over.

Hello Chevy members, great to be here!

Strange issue:
This is the third time in a 6 month period that I went to turn my ignition key and nothing happens. Then after I walk away from the car and come back about 5 mins later, it starts working. It's intermittent in that it happened about 6 months ago, then once about a month after and now tonight. Note: there is a recall on the ignition switch, but the recall is related to fire prevention according to the notes, not starting issues. It's worth taking it in to have it replaced in case that is the issue.

But I'm wondering, does this sound like it could be the ignition switch? Or something to do with the starter or maybe some other electrical or ground issue. At first I thought it was the starter solenoid , but then when it started working I knew it wasn't that.

Advanced Thanks.

without some tests being done at the time the problem occurs it's only guessing. Do you have a voltmeter so that you could test power at the starter and solenoid when this problem occurs?

I'm not at the stage of testing yet.
The basis of my question was to get an idea of what kinds of things could cause this type of issue. How am I suppose to test something that's Intermittent and only happens once in a blue moon. That's an issue because I never know when it's going to happen. So it's kind of difficult to test something with a multimeter that's not giving me problems. The car was fine all day today.

I'm just asking what kinds of things could cause an intermittent malfunction regarding this issue.
If it was a blown solenoid I could just bridge the gap with a screwdriver to test that. But as far as the power at the starter, that's not going to explain why it occasionally stops working and then starts again.

Yes I have a multimeter/voltmeter.
I've owned 3 Fords, and two Chevys. Chevy's have the coolest looking body's and designs, but I will never buy one again. Too many things go wrong with them, electrical, transmissions, on.. and on. I've got two friends who own new impalas and my Uncle, they all sold them in the first 3 years. They'll nickle and dime you.
