I need a web site or a place to call for a 5-Speed (6-speed if that exists)

transmission for a 1979 Corvette.? I have no clue where to start for finding a 5-speed transmission for a '79 vette. It needs to handle a lot of HP and torque. And I'm not spending 5k on a tranny alone.

You car originally came with a 4 speed.

You can upgrade to a 5 or six speed with the right bell housing adapter. A T56 transmission can be used in older smallblock cars.

And if you don't want to spend $5k, you won't get a tranny that will handle a ton of horsepower, unless you get a used one and rebuilt it yourself. Even then you'll still sink a ton of money into it.
