My air conditioner makes a weird sound and makes my car accelerate when i turn it on and it dosent work. Anyone know what it could be? I am worried, thank you for your answers i grately aprreciate them!
its a 2006 chevy malibu!

usually they say high pressure hose $250 is standard to get AC fixed regardless of what's really wrong...

Something is wrong with the freon on your a/c , probably related to the low pressure port.

Supposedly from what i read you can fix it by just opening the hood or accessing the car from under and replacing a blue thing, I'm no expert and im telling you only what i read, Read my source, thats where i got it.

P.S.: If its accelerating by 2 to 3 thousand RPMS, thats no joke and this can probably kill you, I'd say get it fixed ASAP.

Shouldnt cost you much, I'm guessing max $3-4 hundred.

It could be the a/c clutch. Which if its bad when you turn it on. It can make the belts race. The best thing to do is have a shop give you estimate on what is wrong. Most will give a free one. then you can buy the parts and put them in if you are able to do so your self.

You will need to take it to a shop that does automotive A/C and heat. It sounds like you compressor is going out, or you are low on refrigerant. Any way you look at it, it will need a professional to diagnose and fix the issue. Average cost for diagnosis is $60, and repairs can run as high as $400.

I've got an '05 and there was a leaf stuck in there once. If its not blowing cold you should get an AC recharge at local shop. As for making the car speed up are you sure its actually making your speedometer gauge go up or just the RPM gauge? Sometimes AC makes the engine work a bit harder...
