It used to run to 3,000 rpm in first gear (40 mph) I just took it out for a spin and it was reaching 4,000 rpm (30 mph) when I shifted into second gear. Is there a possible issue coming/here, or did I just not allow the car to properly warm up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Faulty operator. you should discuss the operating conditions of your car with the guy who sold you the "racing chip".

I'm not going to say I'm not trying to be mean. I kinda am. Why did you buy a part if you do not understand the changes it will make to your car? First, their is no way your car shifted at 3000 rpm every time if it is in good repair. Second, yes, most "chips" will change shift points, among other things, so a slightly higher shift point under various conditions is not an indication of malfunction. You are not looking at engine damage until around 6000 rpm if it is a 5.7 L "Corvette" engine. By the way, it is no longer a "Corvette" engine if it is in a Trans Am. It is now a Trans Am engine.
