Its hard starting in the morning or when Its cold ,then sputters for about 30 sec. to a minute then runs great.I've changed plug wires, plugs, PCV valve and air filter recently but it started 3 weeks before the change.

i would bet you have a blown head gasket, cavaliers are known for this, signs of a blown head gasket are- exaust looks white and smells different, look under oil cap...does oil have water in it-it will look creamy brown, do you slowly loose coolant, check if there is water on your spark plugs....I have had 2 cavaliers, a 94' and a 93'...both have the same motor as yours. I have been through 6 head gaskets on the 2 cars. and if the oil looks bad like that change it right away cause it will ruin your rod bearings! the motor will start to knock

could be the head gasket or the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) I had a similar problem.
