whenver it goes in gear it stalls? It is a 72 smallblock and everything seems to be sealed right but whenever I put into drive or reverse it dies if im not puttin more gas into it. any suggestions would be awsome thanks

Reset the timing and tune it up make sure the engine is hot before u start shifting. Your gas my have water in it, get a gas treament.. and new gas filters

sounds like it is running much to rich. Just turn down the fuel on the needle valve and it should be fine.

Change the ratios on the fuel...
or see if it is rocking too hard and pinching a wire.
or .. lets see... maybe you need a new fuel filter.
Carb could be flooding.

It could be a number of things.

1)fuel filter may be clogged
2)If its a manual choke it could be stuck.
3)the 4 barrel carb may be too big for the engine. I wouldnt run anything over a 650 on a 350 small block.

I had the same problem with my 350 in my 75 jeep. I had a 750 holley 4 barrel and it was just simply too big for the engine. So i down sized to a 650 edelbrock.

Electrics.. I once had a Fury that died almost every time I turned the wheel, mind of her own like Christine, sometimes would go one way but not the other, turned out to be a wire rubbing on the shaft shorting!
