How to test a fuel pump for a 2004 chevy malibu?

you will need a proper connectors a fuel pressure tester all so how much the pump should put out ,locate the large fuel line on the back of the throttle body open the gas cap to vent any pressure remove the line install the connector connect the gage turn on the ignition get the reading if it is not with in tolerances replace the pump .
 
Here is a quick test of the fuel system. Have a knowledgeable friend spray carb cleaner into the air inlet to the throttle body. If the car starts then you know your problem is fuel related. To diagnose the pump you will need a pressure tester and/or a voltmeter.
