how much would it cost me to re-ignition my 97 chevy silverado?

i sold my truck yesterday but the key i have for the ignition system is worn out really bad so its almost imposible to start unless you have been driving the truck for a long time and figure out the sweet spot over time. i need just the ignition part on the steering colum replaced, how much should i be looking to spend and whats a good kind of shop to take it too? whats a good price and what woul dbe a rip off cuzz i dont wana pay more than i need to and never had it done before. Also, doesnt tripple A reignition cars? thankssss!!!!
 
The first thing I would do is have another key made. Don't have your key copied, it will just be another copy of a worn out key. Take the title to the dealer and they can use there key code cutter that takes the vin number and makes a new key using their key code machine which will make a fresh key that may save you replacing the whole tumbler assembly. If they have a chipped key that costs a lot, have them make a cheap key first that will turn the ignition but not start the car. That way you will know a chipped key will work before spending a bunch of money.
