I just recently bought 1978 Camaro with the RS package that had the original Rally rims, tires, caps AND rings, all in decent condition. SHE TOOK THEM OFF AFTER WE I GAVE HER A DOWN PAYMENT AND SIGNED AN "AS IS" RECEIPT!!! The receipt was dated with our signatures, and I have pictures that are dated for the same day as the receipt. The prosecutor says that she basically stole the rims and that with all the evidence (we also have phone recordins of her boyfriend in jail telling her to take them off) we have a very strong chance of winning the case.

The only problem is, I need to fill out a form and one of the things I need to fill out is the value of the property stolen.

The rings have some very light scuffs on them, the rims didn't seem to have any rust, the caps were in great shape, and the tires were the original white walls with around 50% of the tread left.

Any ideas on the value?

First I'd like to say great car, I wish I had one. Second, the value of the wheels depends on several things. Are you sure their original and if there from the same year as your car. If all of these things check out then they are worth more than ones you could buy from a junk yard. So my estimate is any where form $50 each - $200 each it all depends on the condition. Check with a collector this is only an estimate.

Well in any condition, original wheels with rally caps could fetch 400 per set easy. However, look on the YEAR ONE website for the repro. Its not what it cost, its what it cost to replace. Also it depends on if the wheels were 14's or 15's. If they were original 15's the price could be closer to a grand. if new its a grand used its 600 and thats what I would argue in court, especially considering putting decent tread on the wheels will be a 3-500 dollar endeavor. See for yourself, here is the link to year one:

Just copy paste and go.

Good Luck.

From the sounds of it I think you may want to shoot close to a grand as an estimate. There are some variables. If they were 14's or 15's makes a huge difference. In life its not what something cost, its what it cost to replace. Look at yearone.com and check the price of the repros to see for yourself. The rims alone could go close to 350 a piece once you add the rings and caps. That doesnt include the rubber on em'.
