Hi, the column shifter broke off and i want to fix it. It was my parents truck and it would have been passed on to me. Is it smart to buy one from ebay? i cant find a parts truck anywhere. how hard world be to replace. its an LT model loaded power everything. 160,000 5.7 350 Vortec. Thanks

Pick one up from a junkyard they're usually like $40...you also won't have to replace the whole column if you just need a new shifter. Just buy the whole steering column assembly and it comes with everything all the way up to the steering wheel. Pretty easy to assemble too. You'll probably need a part puller to pull the steering wheel though. And you'll have to swtich the ignition switches, or else use the ignition switch and key that they give you. A good 5 hours of work at least by yourself.
