I have pulled the pump from the vehicle and went to auto Zone to buy a replacement. When we looked at it my pump has a different set up. The existing pump had a reservoir, a metal tube, and a housing that holds what looks like a sensor and a place to screw my second line the pump. The new pump has the reservoir, metal tubing, but just a threading where it looks like the sensor could screw in. The old pump appears to be a one piece casting so how do I tear down teh existing pump or do I need to go to a chevy parts dealer for a true OEM part?

Sure the dealership could help but why not go to a big do it yourself auto wreckers and pull off a good used pump assembly cheap.

it Sounds like autozone may have given you the wrong pump, gm used 2 systems on that year, one with and one without electronic variable orifice or EVO,before you try to install the one you have check to make sure they sold you the correct one for evo,and they should offer a pump with reservoir that makes the swap alot easier, but your evo switch will have to be transferred from your old pump either way--a side note if you are changing the pump for a lack of power steering at low rpm or idle condition your problem may actually be the evo switch ,they had some problems with those, hope this helps

I would take the core to a chevy dealer and ask them. They will know much more than an autozone employee. They can maybe cross reference a serial number or something.
